Who we are
Grow Chicken is an independent backyard chicken-keeping website. Our website address is https://growchicken.com, and you can reach us at contact@growchicken.com. We also run a separate flock-tracking app at app.growchicken.com, which has its own sign-up and account terms.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser user agent (to help detect spam). If you sign up to our newsletter or use the contact form, we collect the name and email address you provide.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring website, and the time and date of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.
Cookies and third-party services
We use the following services. Each may set cookies or collect data under its own privacy policy.
- Google AdSense (advertising). Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. - Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are popular). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed and approximate location. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Ahrefs Web Analytics. We use Ahrefs’ privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies for tracking across sites.
- Amazon Associates (affiliate links). See the affiliate disclosure below. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies to attribute any purchase to us.
- Embedded content. Some articles include embedded videos (for example from YouTube). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it.
- Site functionality. Our website software sets small cookies needed for the site to work, such as counting page views and remembering comment details if you choose to.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

Grow Chicken is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This does not change the price you pay. Links to products are marked as sponsored.
How we use your information
- To run and improve the website and understand which content is useful.
- To show comments and protect the site against spam and abuse.
- To send newsletters you asked for (you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email).
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To show advertising that funds the site.
We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep data
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages sent to us are kept only as long as needed to respond. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the providers’ own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU/UK under the GDPR, or in California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email contact@growchicken.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
